The Journey of Discipleship
Discipleship begins with the Gospel—the good news that God has spoken, and His Word is both valid and sufficient. Scripture reveals the truth about Who God is, who we are, the separation between us, and the Bridge that brings us back to Him.
Therefore, our program begins with Essentials of Discipleship Book 1- the Starting Point. In this workbook, you interact with truths that dig deep into the Gospel, explaining Who God is and Who you are in relation to Him.
We discover a God who is holy, just, and full of love. We see ourselves clearly: created as both body and soul yet `broken by sin. Our rebellion against God has earned death, judgment, and eternal separation. But into this hopelessness, Christ came. Sinless and perfect, He died for sinners so that we might be reconciled to God. His resurrection is the triumphant assurance that death is defeated.
The Gospel calls us to respond: to hear and believe, to trust and rely upon Christ, and to repent and receive Him as Lord. This first step—coming to Christ—ushers us into the lifelong journey of discipleship.
From Justification to Adoption
When we believe, God declares us justified—made right before Him, not by our works, but by Christ’s finished work. Justification opens the door to discipleship, but adoption invites us in fully. We are no longer strangers, but beloved sons and daughters. Discipleship is life as children of God, following God our Father, through His Son Jesus Christ and empowered by the indwelling Holy Spirit.

Essentials of Discipleship Book 2
Discipleship is a journey of sanctification—becoming more like Jesus day by day. Now that you know the Gospel and are adopted as God’s child, you want to please your Father and trust His guidance. That is the thrust of Essentials of Discipleship Book 2 – Walking Towards God.
Anchored in the Word
God reveals Himself to us through His Word. It is our anchor, shaping our minds and hearts. We treasure it by memorizing Scripture so that it is near to us. We also dwell in it through daily devotional reflection called Devotional Commentaries. Once you learn to do them through the workbook, you can use free resources like the "Devotional Commentary templates" which are used with "Devotional Commentary Book" of the "Bible Maps" or "Devotional Commentary Booklets" to develop a regular habit of being in the Word. The Word teaches us, changes us, shows us what pleases God and what doesn’t, and reveals the One Whom we love with all of our hearts, souls, minds and strength.
Marked by Prayer
A disciple’s life is marked by prayer. In Book 2 you learn why we pray and how to pray. We teach you methods to encourage and help you make communing with God in prayer a way of life, woven throughout each and every day.

More Essentials Books are coming
Future Essentials books will focus on worship, fellowship, and evangelism We worship with His church, joining the gathered body of Christ. We walk in fellowship and community, encouraging one another and bearing one another’s burdens. And we step outward in evangelism, not merely to grow in numbers, but to invite others into worship and discipleship with the living God.
Finally, discipleship equips us to stand firm in the world. Apologetics—reasoning and defending the faith—helps us give an answer for the hope we have in Christ.
Discipleship is more than knowledge—it is life in Christ. It begins with the Gospel, takes root in justification and adoption, grows through sanctification, and flourishes in community, worship, prayer, and mission. And at the center of it all is Jesus—the hub who holds it all together.
